Nigerian netizens, particularly on X, have called out the management of a Chinese supermarket located in Abuja over alleged discriminatory policy against citizens of the country.

The supermarket is situated at the China General Chamber of Commerce, along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Road in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“This January nah him dey stop Nigerians from entering this supermarket,” the security guard said.

“We are not allowed to enter the Chinese supermarket, It is not a joke, it is not a lie. We have been trying to enter the place but we heard that our Nigerian people nah them dey sell in there, so if we go there (forcefully) they might lose their jobs,” one of the Nigerians who was denied entrance to the store says in the video.

This discovery has generated a lot of bad feelings among Nigerians who have described the supermarket’s policy as discriminatory. They called on the government to intervene.

For instance, an X user, Pure Stanley, said the government should take immediate steps to seal the store until its management is ready to reverse its policy to allow potential buyers from Nigerians to shop there.

If this is true then the Chinese restaurant/Supermarket should be closed down by the FG, we can't have foreigners in our country shoving racism into our faces.
Can a Nigerian open a restaurant/supermarket in China, and restrict the Chinese from entering in it, talk more of

“Can a Nigerian open a restaurant/supermarket in China, and restrict the Chinese from entering in it, talk more of shopping there, without the restaurant/ Supermarket getting seized or closed by the Chinese GOVT?”

Another user, Emmajun83175611 said he found the situation unbelievable. He asked, “Your Excellency Sir please can a Nigerian own a business in China and Chinese people are restricted from the premises?? Have you guys sold this country to China? Cause how could this have been going on for years and  @followlasg kept quiet about it?? NIGERIA WHEN?”

“Omo, in our own country? Nigerians can’t enter to shop in a Chinese supermarket in Nigeria? And yet they are using Nigerians as workers in the same place? This is an embarrassment of the highest order on the government/citizens of Nigeria. This is arrant nonsense, our government are the cause of this, when they don’t value their own citizen, how would they respect and value us,” Owolabi’s 2 stated.

Endy linked the situation to how the Nigerian passport has reportedly lost some value internationally.

Endy said, “If you present that green passport anywhere in the world , they look at you as a certificate forger, drug dealer, election rigger, repented terrorist etc. When you defend APC, you expect any country to respect you.”
