Kogi Government Says 9 Students Were Abducted From Confluence University

According to the government, nine students were abducted from the school during an attack by terrorists on Thursday night.

The Kogi State Government on Friday confirmed the abduction of students at the Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH) in Osara.

The state information and communication commissioner, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo in Lokoja on Friday said about 400 security operatives comprising local hunters and personnel of the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) had been deployed to comb the bush to rescue the kidnapped victims.

Meanwhile, some students of the university had earlier told SaharaReporters that almost 50 students were missing after the terrorists' invasion on Thursday night. 

According to the source, almost all students who were reading inside the three classrooms for the forthcoming examination were kidnapped after the attack.

 

The Kogi State Police Command has not released any official information on the incident and several attempts made by SaharaReporters to reach its spokesman, William Ovye Aya, failed.
