Putin, Other World Leaders Pay Tribute To Iranian President Raisi Killed In Helicopter Crash

World leaders and top foreign officials have been paying tribute to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi who died alongside others in a helicopter crash.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in his message to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said, “Please accept my deep condolences in connection with the great tragedy that befell the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

"Seyed Ebrahim Raisi was an outstanding politician whose entire life was devoted to serving the Motherland," Putin said in his telegram.

"As a true friend of Russia, he made an invaluable personal contribution to the development of good neighborly relations between our countries and made great efforts to bring them to the level of strategic partnership."

Charles Michel, President of the European Council, on his X account on Monday said, “The EU expresses its sincere condolences for the death of President Raisi and Foreign Minister Abdollahian, as well as other members of their delegation and crew in a helicopter accident. Our thoughts go to the families.”

Abdullah bin Al Hussein, King of Jordan in a message on X said, “My deepest condolences to the brothers, leadership, government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the death of Brother President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Brother Hossein Amir Abdullahian and those accompanying them, may God have mercy on them all. We stand in solidarity with our brothers in Iran in this difficult circumstance.”

 

 

 

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, said, “Deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic demise of Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His contribution to strengthening India-Iran bilateral relationship will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Iran. India stands with Iran in this time of sorrow.”

 

 

 

President of the Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said, “I am shocked by the hard news about the sensitive physical loss of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi. Cilia, who is a friend of his wife, and I are deeply saddened by having to say goodbye to an exemplary person, an extraordinary leader of the world as our brother Ebrahim is and will always be, an excellent human being, defender of the sovereignty of his people and unconditional friend of our country.”

 

“From Bolivarian lands we express our deep regret to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and hope that there is divine consolation for such sensitive losses. We join the feeling that overwhelms their families and our Iranian brothers in these difficult times.

“A heartfelt hug from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. You, Iran, are an example of dignity, morality and resistance. Strength brothers and sisters!” he added.

The Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif who announced that his country would observe a day of mourning following the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and others in a helicopter crash, also said that flags would fly at half-mast to show respect to the late Iranian president.

 

In a post on his X account on Monday, Sharif said, “Pakistan had the pleasure of hosting President Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on a historic visit, less than a month ago. They were good friends of Pakistan. Pakistan will observe a day of mourning and the flag will fly at half mast as a mark of respect for President Raisi and his companions and in solidarity with Brotherly Iran.”

 

“Had been anxiously following developments regarding the reported crash landing of President Raisi's helicopter. Was hoping for good news. Alas, this was not to be. I along with the government and people of Pakistan extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the Iranian nation on this terrible loss. May the martyred souls rest in heavenly peace. The great Iranian nation will overcome this tragedy with customary courage,” he tweeted earlier on Monday.

 

 

 

 

President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, said, “Deeply shocked by the devastating news of helicopter crash, which claimed lives of Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian, other officials.

“My sincerest condolences to Government and friendly people of #Iran. We share the grief of the people of Iran and wish fortitude and endurance at this tough time.”

President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said, “I pray that God Almighty has mercy on my dear colleague, my brother, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Ibrahim Reisi, who we learned unfortunately passed away in a helicopter crash.

“I wish God's mercy to the Iranian Foreign Minister and others who lost their lives in the same helicopter as the late Chief.

“I express my deepest condolences to the friendly and brotherly Iranian people and government, especially to the Religious Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Ali Khamenei, and to the families of his Honorable Leader and other deceased people.

“As a colleague who personally witnessed his efforts for the peace of the Iranian people and our region during his time in office, I remember Mr. Chairman with respect and gratitude.

“As Türkiye, we will stand by our neighbor Iran in these difficult and sad times, as we have done many times.”

 

 

 

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, also sent a condolence message to the people of Iran, saying, “We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi and Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahian.

 

“I share the deep pain of the friendly and brotherly Iranian people, may God have mercy on those who lost their lives, and offer my condolences to their grieving families.

 

“I fondly remember the contributions of Abdullahiyan, with whom I had the opportunity to work closely during the critical period our region was in, to further strengthen the bilateral relations between our countries.”
