Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has terminated the contract for the renovation of the Warri Township Stadium.

Briefing journalists shortly after the state executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Ifeanyi Osuoza, flanked by the Commissioner for works in charge of rural roads, Charles Aniagwu, Reuben Izeze, commissioner for works (urban roads), Kingsley Emu, Secretary to the state government and Festus Ahon, Chief Press Secretary, disclosed that the state executive council decided to terminate the contract for the renovation of the Warri township stadium due to laxity on the part of the contractor.

 

Giving reasons for the termination of the Warri township stadium, the commissioner for works (rural roads), Reuben Izeze, said, the contractor breached all contractual agreements and ought to have been sued but for the magninimity of the governor, he was allowed to go adding that the contract supposed to have been completed and delivered to the state government in 24 months.

 

In February, 2024, Governor Oborevwori while receiving on victory and solidarity visit, members of the National Assembly from the state, led by Nicholas Mutu, at the Government House, Asaba, had promised that his administration was planning to revamp the Warri Township Stadium into a world class sports facility.

 

Governor Oborevwori had stated that the designs for the new stadium were currently ongoing and would be one of the best in the country when completed and thanked the Federal lawmakers for the solidarity visit, assuring that more developments await Deltans.
