Nigerian Police Arrest Suspect For Forging Lagos Magistrates Stamps, Impersonating Officer

A 48-year-old resident of Lagos State identified as Charles Chukwudi, has been arrested by the police for forging stamps of the Lagos Magistrates and impersonating a police officer in the state.

 

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who made this known on Thursday said that detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the State Police Command, arrested Chukwudi following discreet investigations into his issuance of fake court documents to unsuspecting members of the public. 

 

The police spokesperson said that upon his arrest, forged official stamps of Chief Magistrate Admin, C/M Adeola Olatunbosun - Chief Magistrate Court I Yaba and Magistrate A.B Ajiferuke of Magistrate Court Epe were found in his possession. 

 

Also found in his possession was a fake police identity card and a passport photograph of the suspect in police uniform which investigation revealed he had photoshopped.

 

Hundeyin said the suspect was arrested within the premises of Tinubu Court, Lagos-Island on Wednesday and had since been arraigned.

 

“Investigations had commenced into his fraudulent activities after its discovery by some court officials who in turn alerted the police,” Hundeyin added.
