The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of one person following the collapse of a mosque in the Mushin area of the state.

He wrote: “Rescue work has been completed. Sadly, an 11-year-old girl died in the incident. Other victims with (non-life threatening) injuries have been taken to hospital for adequate care.”

 

 

 

 

SaharaReporters had reported the collapse of the mosque in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

 

SaharaReporters learned that the incident happened in the Papa Ajao area of Mushin on Sunday afternoon during the prayer time (Zuhr prayer) and resulted in injuries.

Building collapse is common in Lagos State and many of them are tragic.

SaharaReporters reported that at least 61 buildings collapsed across Nigerian states in 2022.

 

Lagos State topped the list with a record of 20 incidents, according to the Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG) report.
