June 6, 2024

This is contained in the recommendations given by an ad hoc committee set up by the House of Assembly headed by Henry Zacharia presented during the plenary session on Wednesday.

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has asked Governor Sani Uba to stop repaying all the loans collected by the previous government of Nasir El-Rufa’i, found to have been done without due process.

This is contained in the recommendations given by an ad hoc committee set up by the House of Assembly headed by Henry Zacharia presented during the plenary session on Wednesday.

The committee said, “That, all Loans (Domestic and Foreign) obtained by the Kaduna State Government between 29th May, 2015 to 29th May, 2023 and found by the Committee to have been obtained without due process are not binding on the State and the State Government should henceforth stop honouring all. Limit obligations arising from them.”

The committee also directed the Kaduna Internal Revenue Service to immediately withdraw the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) Account domiciled at Zenith Bank as Security for the #20,000,000,000.00 guaranteed in 2023 and to request that the bank refund all monies deducted on account of the purported illegal guarantee, including accrued interest.

SaharaReporters earlier on Thursday reported that the committee in their recommendations demanded an immediate refund of N36 billion allegedly paid for illegal contractual transactions by the government of El-Rufa’i.

According to the committee, the government of El-Rufa’i paid the sum of N36 billion for contracts that were not done and therefore violated the state procurement laws.

The committee said, “That the Contractors listed hereunder should refund to the Kaduna State Government a total sum of N36,351,126,811.65 being monies paid for work either not done, overpayment or diversion as follows:- Ronchess Global Resources PLC, Chamberlayne Global Concept Ltd, M/S Prestige Integrated Services Ltd, M/S Philco Nig.
