She confessed that an argument ensued on Sunday when Kelechi failed to give her a share of an alleged 250 million Rupiah they had swindled from a victim in Indonesia.

A 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi from Uzoagba in the Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State has been apprehended by the state police command for fatally stabbing her partner, Kelechi Nzemechi.

According to the police, the suspect admitted during interrogation that her 31-year-old lover had involved her in internet fraud, also called 'Yahoo-Yahoo'.

She confessed that an argument ensued on Sunday when Kelechi failed to give her a share of an alleged 250 million Rupiah they had swindled from a victim in Indonesia. In the heat of the quarrel, Oluchi claimed she stabbed him with a kitchen knife in the upper body.

In an attempt to cover up the crime, she left a note on the deceased's body stating, “You think you can eat my money and go free, I am baba for the boys, I am coming for your wife and your child including your family” before fleeing the scene.

The suspect, who has been living with the victim since 2019 and has a child with him, was paraded by the police and confessed to the crime.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Henry Okoye, stated that the suspect would be charged after the investigation was completed.

He also said efforts were underway to recover the alleged 250 million Rupiah for a possible return to the rightful owner.
