Sanyaolu was released on Thursday evening after he had been "abducted" in Lagos by the personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The National Coordinator of the Take-It-Back Movement, Comrade Juwon Sanyaolu has finally regained his freedom from the Nigerian Police custody.
Sanyaolu was released on Thursday evening after he had been "abducted" in Lagos by the personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS).
His release was confirmed in a post shared on X by human rights activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore.
Sowore wrote: “The @FreeJuwonSanyaolu campaign was a success. THE national Coordinator of the @TIBmovement @AyowoleSanyaolu has been released from the office of the Commissioner of @PoliceNG in Lagos! #TakeItBack #RevolutionNow.”
SaharaReporters had earlier reported how the Department of State Services (DSS) despite its blatant official denial handed over Sanyaolu to the Lagos State Police command in Ikeja.
SaharaReporters had reported on Wednesday that the Nigerian secret police were responsible for the abduction of the TIB National Coordinator in Lagos on Tuesday night, citing a top government source.
As his whereabouts raised concerns, the DSS in post shared on its official X)formerly Twitter) account, had denied the arrest and detention of the activist, Sanyaolu, insisting that the service never invited him.
The DSS post had read: "Juwon Sanyaolu, Coordinator of TAKE IT BACK MOVEMENT is NOT with the DSS. He was NOT invited, arrested or detained by the Service."
