Nigerian Police Deploy Operatives, IED Experts Ahead Of Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations

The command in a statement signed by Josephine Adeh, its Public Relations Officer, assured the people of the territory of the command’s readiness to perform its statutory responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens, before and during Eid-el-Kabir celebration. 

 

 

 

 

The police in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have said operatives have been deployed across the nooks and crannies of the nation's capital ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration by Muslims. 

 

 

The command in a statement signed by Josephine Adeh, its Public Relations Officer, assured the people of the territory of the command’s readiness to perform its statutory responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens, before and during Eid-el-Kabir celebration. 

 

 

She explained that there would be deployment of the explosive ordinance devices (EOD) experts and personnel at various prayer grounds, recreational centers, event centres, raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings/shanties, stop and search, Vehicular and foot patrol.

 

 

The Police spokesperson noted some diversion points in the territory, which includes: diversion point around Eid ground by airport interchange to games village and Jabi by airport road into the main city. 

 

 

The statement reads in parts; "The FCT Police Command in anticipation of Eid-el-Kabir celebration by Muslim faithfuls, has proactively deployed material and human resources at the Command's disposal across the nooks and crannies of the Nation's Capital.

 

 

"The deployment which is aimed at ensuring residents of FCT enjoys a peaceful and serene atmosphere, before, during and post Eid celebration is characterized by visibility policing, the deployment of explosive ordinance devices (EOD) experts and personnel at various prayer grounds, recreational centers,  event centres, raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings/shanties, stop and search, Vehicular and foot patrol.

 

 

"Worthy of note are diversion points in the territory, some of which includes: diversion point around Eid ground by airport interchange to games village and Jabi by airport road into the main city.

 

 

"The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh psc, mni, urges residents to give the police operatives utmost cooperation, as the deployments is solely aimed at ensuring the safety of the populace. He also calls on the Muslim faithfuls in FCT, as they join others around the world in the celebration to embrace the virtues of the festivity, while reassuring the populace of his commitment to ensure the safety of all and sundry.

 

 

"Residents are also urged to be vigilant and take advantage of the Police emergency lines to report suspicious activities through: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, 07057337653 PCB: 09022222352, CRU: 08107314192," the statement added. 

 

 

Similarly, the Police Command in Delta State said it had massively deployed its operatives to combat crime and ensure smooth festivities ahead of the forthcoming celebrations.

 

 

This was contained in a statement by the spokesperson for the Command, Bright Edafe noting that the CP also directed all DPOS to intensify raids of criminal hideouts and black spots within their areas of responsibility.

 

 

He asserted that undercover Police operatives have also been deployed to monitor and report any suspicious activities to the command. Adding that the CP warns that anyone who engages in any mischievous act will be dealt with in accordance with the law. 

 

 

He said; "The Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has assured all Muslim faithful in the State of the provision of adequate security and free flow of traffic in the State in view of the forthcoming Eid-Kabir celebration.  

 

 

"The CP has ordered a massive deployment of personnel across the State to provide adequate security in all Muslim prayer grounds, and strategic locations in the State. The CP also directed all DPOS to intensify raids of criminal hideouts and black spots within their areas of responsibility.

 

 

"The CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Operations Officers to employ all means of ensuring thorough supervision of personnel deployed for the actualization of peace and tranquillity during and after the celebration. 

 

 

"Undercover Police operatives have also been deployed to monitor and report any suspicious activities to the command, to this end the CP warns that anyone who engages in any mischievous act will be dealt with in accordance with the law, the Commissioner of Police on behalf of officers and men of the Command wishes all Muslim faithful a hitch-free, and a happy Eid-Kabir celebration."
