Rufa’i said the command had deployed personnel to the scene of the incident but were yet to get full access to the place because the attack coincided with the Sallah prayer.

The Sokoto State Police Command says at least six persons have been confirmed dead following a terrorist attack at Tudun Doki village in the Gwadabawa Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the state police command, Ahmed Rufa’i, who confirmed the attack to SaharaReporters on the phone, said the incident happened in the early hours of Sunday - Eid il-Adha.

Rufa’i said the command had deployed personnel to the scene of the incident but were yet to get full access to the place because the attack coincided with the Sallah prayer.

He said, “The attack happened early this morning and our men are on their way to the scene of the incident but you know the attack coincided with the Sallah prayer, so they have not gotten to the place completely,” he said.

“However, we have confirmed from the hospital that six persons have been confirmed dead so far. I don’t have further full details yet but once our men get there, I will have more updates on the incident.”

SaharaReporters learnt that many residents were also abducted by the terrorists.

Sokoto is one of the northwestern Nigerian states terrorized by terrorists and bandits.
