It was learnt that the driver of the container truck lost control while driving and the vehicle fell on a female biker descending Iganmu Bridge, resulting in her death.

The truck driver, who was speeding, lost control causing the truck to fall on the biker, according to LASTMA.

LASTMA responded to the incident and cleared the vehicle to ensure a free flow of traffic.

The truck driver fled the scene in panic after realising the extent of the damage and the fatal consequences of the accident.

"Immediately after the incident, LASTMA personnel called in other emergency responders, including the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU), for a rescue operation," Giwa said.

The body of the deceased was transported away by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), and the truck was removed to clear the road and restore traffic flow on Iganmu Bridge.

The rescue effort was secured by police officers from Ijora Badia, who ensured a safe and orderly operation, the statement said.

While expressing his condolences to the family of the deceased, Giwa warned truck drivers to adhere to speed limits both within and outside the state.

He also advised motorbike riders, both commercial and private to obey traffic rules and regulations as stipulated in the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
