Nigerian Man Climbs Radio Mast To Commit Suicide In Abuja

The rescue operation is currently being carried out by the Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency and Federal Capital Territory officials.

A yet-to-be-identified man on Monday morning was seen at the top of a radio mast trying to commit suicide in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. 

 

This was seen in a video uploaded by Channel TV, stating that a suicide note left behind by the man was found.

Relevant agencies were deployed to the scene to rescue him. 

The rescue operation is currently being carried out by the Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency and Federal Capital Territory officials. 

Attempts by Nigerians to commit suicide are not often connected to the economic challenges and hardship in the country.

For instance, last Tuesday, SaharaReporters reported how an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) took his own life at his residence in Abuja. 

The deceased, a member of Course 5, was described as a diligent, efficient, and unassuming operative. 

 

Reacting to the tragic incident, the Commission said its were exploring possible factors which resulted in the suicide. 

The EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale also said that an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the suicide.
