Felix, who died on Sunday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, was reportedly beaten with sticks and stones by a group led by Aíyenomuro Mobolaji, the son of a Chief Superintendent of Police in the state, popularly known as Spider.

A young man identified as Felix has died after he was allegedly brutally beaten by a group of at least six men in Lagos State.

Felix, who died on Sunday at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, was reportedly beaten with sticks and stones by a group led by Aíyenomuro Samuel, the son of a Chief Superintendent of Police in the state, popularly known as Spider.

During an exclusive interview with the deceased's father, Mobolaji, it was alleged that Spider and his squad beat Felix because the latter’s family had a quarrel with their neighbour, whose daughter is a friend of Spider.

The father said Felix died as a result of the injuries he sustained from the beating Spider and his gang allegedly gave him, adding that it was confirmed by the doctors who attended to him before his death.

The father said, “It is not a question of guessing. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he underwent treatment for a day. The doctor later found out that this was not a problem he could solve and said he should be taken to a specialist hospital for a proper treatment.

“He now referred us to Alimosho General Hospital, Igando. On reaching there, they said we should go to Ikeja.

“On Saturday morning, he was still breathing. But by the time we got to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, we found out that he was no longer breathing.”

The mother of the deceased, in a video obtained by SaharaReporters, explained that the dispute began when their neighbour's daughter intentionally poured water into their shared passage, seemingly to provoke them.

The mother said the issue happened last Thursday and all the parties involved thought it had been resolved. She, however, regretted that Felix was attacked by a group of thugs led by Spider the following day.

She said, “The whole matter started when my neighbour’s daughter poured water on the passage. What effrontery does she have to pour water on the passage? She just came down from upstairs and poured the water there.

“The mother is not the type that would allow you to solve the matter amicably. She is not the type. This was the reason I brought the idea that we should take it to the ‘Baale’ (Traditional ruler lower in rank to a king). The idea was that if they wrote an undertaking, the thing would not repeat itself again.”

The sister of the deceased told SaharaReporters that her brother was brutally attacked with sticks, stones, and other weapons, which left him unconscious and ultimately resulted in his tragic death.

Efforts to reach the state police command for a statement regarding the allegations made by Felix's family were unsuccessful.

The command's spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, did not react to the allegations despite repeated phone calls and text messages seeking his comment on the matter.
