The Ministry of Women Affairs, headed by Minister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has issued a statement offering a N1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Magnus Okpalannadi, 62, who is alleged to have sexually assaulted his three-year-old daughter.
The ministry's move aims to facilitate his capture and bring him to justice.
The announcement was made by Grace Njoku, Head of Information and Public Relations at the ministry, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
According to Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye, the ministry received a distressing report alleging that Okpalannadi, a resident of Onitsha, Anambra state, had been molesting his young daughter.
Upon learning of the accusations, Okpalannadi reportedly absconded, evading authorities' attempts to apprehend him.
The minister emphasised the uncompromising stance of the Bola Tinubu’s administration against child abuse and molestation. She assured the public that the government is committed to swiftly prosecuting Okpalannadi to serve as a strong deterrent to potential offenders.
Furthermore, Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye reiterated the government's dedication to ensuring a safe environment for all citizens.
She stressed the administration's resolve to protect the rights and dignity of every Nigerian child, woman, and vulnerable individual, emphasizing proactive measures to uphold these commitments.
Mrs. Kennedy-Ohanenye concluded by reaffirming the government's steadfast commitment to safeguarding the rights of Nigerian children and vulnerable populations.
