Plateau Building Collapse: Governor Mutfwang Orders Immediate Closure Of School, Arrest Of Miners

The governor who commiserated with the families of the victims promised that the government will bear the cost of the treatment of those injured.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has ordered the immediate closure of Saint Academy, Busa Buji, in Jos North Local Government Area of the state following the building collapse incident in the school that left at least 22 pupils and teachers dead and dozens of others injured.

 

Governor Mutfwang also ordered the arrest of artisanal miners mining around residential areas in the state.

 

The governor who gave the order when he visited the scene of the incident said, “I’m ordering the closure of Saint Academy with immediate effect.

 

“And I’m also ordering security agencies to arrest any artisanal miners mining in residential areas across the state.”

SaharaReporters on Friday reported how a devastating building collapse occurred at Saint Academy in Busa Buji, Jos North Local Government Area of the State, trapping over 200 students beneath the rubble. 

 

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Musa Ashom, has pleaded with Nigerians, especially residents of the state to visit Plateau Specialists Hospital to donate blood to save the lives of the people rescued from the collapsed school building.

 

The Plateau State Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, had confirmed the death of 22 people and 132 rescued, among whom he said are receiving treatment in some health facilities in the state capital.
