The commissioner shared the heartbreaking news on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, announcing the loss of his daughter, Maimuna; his elder sister, Khadija; and his brother’s wife, Juwairiyya.
The fire engulfed the commissioner’s residence in the Kofar-Mata metropolis during the early hours of Wednesday while the family was asleep, causing significant damage.
In his emotional Facebook post, Commissioner Kofar-Mata expressed deep grief over the sudden loss of his loved ones, quoting a passage: "To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return!”
He announced that the funeral prayers for Maimuna, Khadija, and Juwairiyya would be held at 11 am on Wednesday as investigation into the tragic incident continues.
He said on Facebook, “May God grant my daughter Maimuna (Islam), and my sister whom I follow, Hajiya Khadija and my elder brother's wife, Juwariyya, death. Their burial will take place today, around 11 am (11.00 am), at Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Mosque in Kofarmata. May Allah have mercy on them, and forgive them, Amen O Lord.”
Commissioner Kofar-Mata and his family are left to mourn and rebuild after losing cherished members in a sudden and devastating manner.
