Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced the approval of the appointment of second-class emirs for the Gaya, Karaye, and Rano Emirates.

Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General of Media and Publicity to the governor, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday to the newsmen.

They are: Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, Emir of Rano, and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, Emir of Gaya.

According to Tofa, the appointments take effect immediately.

The deposed emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, was reinstated as emir of Gaya.

Abdulkadir, unlike other deposed emirs, accepted his fate gracefully and expressed readiness to work in any capacity following his deposition.

The governor congratulated the newly appointed emirs and enjoined them to be the custodians of culture, peace and unity of the people in their respective Emirates.

The development follows the signing of the Kano State Emirate Council Establishment Bill 2024 into law by the governor on Monday.
