EFCC Arrests 10 Illegal Miners In Oyo State With Six Trucks Loaded With Lithium

The arrests followed credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in the illegal extraction of solid mineral resources in the state, especially lithium, and their evacuation to unknown destinations.

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that its operatives arrested 10 suspected illegal miners in Oyo State. 

 

The spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, who made this known in a statement issued on Monday said that the suspects were arrested in the Ogbomoso area of the state with six trucks fully loaded with lithium.

 

Oyewale identified the arrested suspects to include Yunusa Adisa, Ganiyu Kazeem, Muideen Babayemi, Sulaiman Usman, Adeleke Waliu, Tiamiyu Rokeeb, Olusola Sunday, Oyedokun Oluwagbemiga, Sulaimon Ishiaq, and Olufimihan Eniola.

 

The EFCC spokesperson said, “Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have arrested ten suspected illegal miners in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

 

“The arrests followed credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in the illegal extraction of solid mineral resources in the state, especially lithium, and their evacuation to unknown destinations.

 

“The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.”
