It was learnt that the meeting was convened behind closed doors and had all the over 40 ministers in the President’s cabinet in attendance.
Some notable ministers and members of the Federal Executive Council are currently meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
This emergency meeting is conveyed to discuss issues concerning the proposed #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
It was learnt that the meeting was convened behind closed doors and had all the over 40 ministers in the President’s cabinet in attendance.
Some of the Ministers spotted are Nyesom Wike (FCT), Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Zephaniah Jisalo (Special Duties), Tahir Mamman (Education), and Abubakar Bagudu (Budget and Planning).
Others are; Wale Edun (Finance), Mohammed Idris (Information), Bello Matawalle (Defence), David Umahi (Works), and the National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, amongst others.
SaharaReporters had reported how Nigerians have been planning to storm major roads nationwide from August 1, 2024, to August 10, 2024, to demand better governance.
President Bola Tinubu had also urged Nigerians to cancel the '#EndBadGovernanceInNigeria' protests, telling them to wait for the government’s response to their complaints.
The National Orientation Agency, the Nigeria Police Force, and the House of Representatives have all warned against the demonstrations.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga warned that the protest could lead to destruction similar to the #EndSARS protests in 2020.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun had similarly urged Nigerians to abandon the planned #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, had warned the government that no amount of threats can stop the planned nationwide protest.
