Paris 2024 Olympics Organisers Release Names, Codes For Nigeria, 205 Other Participating Countries

Fifty-four countries in Africa are expected to participate in the competitions including Nigeria.

The 2024 Olympics has commenced Paris, France even though the opening ceremony takes place Friday, July 26.

Details released by the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) show that approximately 10,500 athletes will compete across 32 sports in 329 events at the 33rd edition of the Games (Paris 2024 Olympics), which will end on August 11.

 

Fifty-four countries in Africa are expected to participate in the competitions including Nigeria.

 

Different countries have been assigned codes for the global event.

 

Some of the codes of countries include Nigeria (NGR), Algeria (ALG), Burkina Faso (BUR), Burundi (BDI), Cameroon (CMR), Central African Republic (CAR), Central African Republic (CAF), Congo (CGO), Morocco (MAR), Niger (NIG), Senegal (SEN), South Africa (RSA), Togo (TOG), Argentina (ARG), Barbados (BAR), Canada (CAN), Mexico (MEX), Peru (PER), Suriname (SUR), Republic of Korea (KOR), India (IND), Nepal (NEP), Qatar (QAT), Saudi Arabia (KSA), Vietnam (VIE), Yemen (YEM), Denmark (DEN), France (FRA), Germany (GER), Italy (ITA), Malta (MLT), Monaco (MON), Netherlands (NED).

 

Olympic Games holds every four years and features different sporting events.

 

Some of the sports featured during the event include Aquatics (Swimming, Marathon Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Artistic Swimming), Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball (3x3, Basketball), Boxing, Breaking, Canoe (Canoe Sprint, Canoe Slalom), Football among others.

 

Nigeria will participate in games like football, track events among others.
