July 26, 2024

The group requested the deployment of uniformed police officers at both protest locations for safety and security, traffic management to minimise public disruption, and coordination with local authorities and emergency services for unforeseen incidents.

The Active Citizens Group Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, has officially informed the Commissioner of Police about their planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance peaceful protest, scheduled to hold from August 1 to 10, 2024.

In a letter signed by its state coordinator, Adamma Benita Ukpabi, the group outlined their intention to peacefully exercise their right to free speech and assembly.

"We are committed to ensuring a peaceful protest and maintaining order throughout the events," Ukpabi stated.

The protest will occur at two locations: the Mainland, starting at Nacho Bus Stop and ending at International Airport, Ikeja, and the Island, starting at Marwa Bus Stop, Lekki Phase 1, and concluding at Eti-Osa Local Government.

The group requested the deployment of uniformed police officers at both protest locations for safety and security, traffic management to minimise public disruption, and coordination with local authorities and emergency services for unforeseen incidents.

"We trust in the professionalism and dedication of the Lagos State Police Command to uphold public safety and protect citizens' rights," Ukpabi added.

The group said it is also open to meeting with police officials to ensure the success of the demonstrations.
