The officer, attached to the Rijiyar Lemo Police Division, was seen addressing a large crowd of demonstrators in Kano, warning that he would have no qualms about using lethal force if any of his personnel were harmed during the protests.
A viral video has surfaced showing a Divisional Police Officer in Kano State threatening to kill #EndBadGovernance protesters.
The officer, attached to the Rijiyar Lemo Police Division, was seen addressing a large crowd of demonstrators in Kano, warning that he would have no qualms about using lethal force if any of his personnel were harmed during the protests.
The video has sparked outrage, with many condemning the officer's brazen disregard for human life and his failure to uphold the police's duty to protect and serve.
He said, “I swear, I will kill someone. Allah, I will kill someone if blood drops from the bodies of any of my police officers. I swear, I will kill someone.”
Last week, Amnesty International Nigeria said no fewer than 13 people had been killed in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.
It was learnt that the violence erupted in Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna to Bachirawa areas in Fagge Local Government, Kofar Nassarawa in Kano municipal and Unguwa Uku area.
The Kano State government last Thursday imposed a 24-hour curfew after the protests turned violent in the state.
SaharaReporters also reported how a newly built Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Industrial Park in the state was vandalised by unknown people masquerading as protesters.
Tinubu on Sunday described the vandalism as “a shame”.
