Francis Nwapa, National Secretary Youths Rights Campaign in a press statement issued at the weekend identified the detainees as Comrade Eleojo Opaluwa; a member of Nigeria Union of Electricity Union (NUEE), Comrade Eleojo Opaluwa, Michael Adaramoye, aka Michael Lenin and Mosiu Sodiq Abolaji.
No fewer than four protesters arrested during the just concluded nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests are currently being detained by the office of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, a human rights group has said.
The statement reads: “Comrade Eleojo Opaluwa, a member of Nigeria Union of Electricity Union (NUEE) has been abducted since last week Saturday August 3.
“He was abducted by National Intelligence Agency (NIA), a unit that is ordinarily meant for foreign operations but being used by Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser (NSA) for abduction of anyone linked to #EndBadGovernance protest.
“This same secret security unit in conjunction with the Department of State Services is responsible for the abduction of Comrade Michael Adaramoye, Babatunde Oluajo, Mosiu Sodiq Abolaji on Monday August 5 around 2am.
“This unit together with the police is suspected to be responsible for the invasion of NLC Head office and made away with several books.
“This security unit is also suspected to have abducted Angel Innocent in Wuse, Abuja, an #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protester.
“This security unit has been involved in the abduction of protesters and mobilizers or anyone who has said anything against Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
“The question is when has Nuhu Ribadu degenerated to using his office as the National Security Adviser to witch-hunt Nigerians calling for good governance?
“Let me remind Ribadu that while he was head of EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) that most of the politicians he wanted to prosecute or had in his watchlist are the same politicians he's working for now both in the executive and legislative arm.
“He should use his office to investigate looters of Nigerian treasury that have subjected millions to multidimensional poverty that have continued to precipitate unrest in the country.
“Comrade Eleojo Opaluwa, Michael Adaramoye, Mosiu Sodiq Abolaji and other protesters are currently detained in the IRT facility in Abuja and have been kept incommunicado since their abduction.
“This is a gross violation of their fundamental human Rights and a dangerous trend in a democratic government.”
“We demand that Nuhu Ribadu and NIA put an end to arbitrary arrest or abduction of protesters and ensure with an immediate and unconditional release of those in detention,” the statement added.
