Community sources told SaharaReporters that some gunmen invaded the community on Sunday and kidnapped three individuals, including a lawyer.

The police in Anambra State have launched a manhunt for gunmen who kidnapped three people including a lawyer after invading Nkpologwu, a quiet town in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

Community sources told SaharaReporters that some gunmen invaded the community on Sunday and kidnapped three individuals, including a lawyer.

Eyewitness accounts and a distressing video circulating on social media depict a chaotic scene as the gunmen descended upon the community between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.

The video shows a vehicle flipped over on the Nkpologwu-Akpo Road, reportedly owned by one of the individuals involved in the incident.

According to reports, the President General of the Community, Prof. Ferdinand Ezeiruaku, has described the incident as terrifying.

He said the trio, who came from different parts of the country, returned home with hopes of participating in an event organised by the local women’s group as part of their August meeting.

Ezeiruaku expressed his deep concern for the safety of those abducted, urging the community and beyond to come together in prayer for their swift and safe return.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, the Command's spokesman, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said a manhunt had been launched for the hoodlums.

“The Command is aware of the development and operation is ongoing for possible rescue,” he said.
