SaharaReporters had reported that Lenin and Sodiq were arrested during a raid on popular activist Babatunde Oluajo, known widely as OSB Sankara’s residence around 2am on August 5, by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Global human rights organisation, Amnesty International had condemned in strongest terms, the continuous arbitrary detention of their detention.
The organisation demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the activists, saying it is a violation of their fundamental human rights to punish them for participating in the protests.
“Amnesty International strongly condemns the continuous arbitrary detention of activists; Adaramoye Michael (Lenin) and Mosiu Sodiq.
“They were arrested at their home in Apo Abuja in the early hours of 5 August 2024 by the operatives of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
“Since 5 August 2024, they have been held incommunicado at the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office in Abuja.
“It appears, they are being punished for participating in the #EndBadGovernance protest. The Nigerian authorities must immediately release them,” Amnesty International wrote in a post on its X account on Friday.
Also, a revolutionary activist, Francis Nwapa, berated Nigerian security agencies for the continued detention of the activists while bandits had become social media influencers who openly display their ransoms and victims without hindrance by the security.
Lenin was one of the key leaders of #EndBadGovernance protests in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
