The arrest took place during a routine check where Yusuf was found hiding an AK-47 rifle and four magazines inside a sack of garri.

A 30-year-old woman, identified as Hauwa Yusuf, has been arrested by Operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) for allegedly concealing a dangerous weapon in an unusual manner.
The arrest took place during a routine check where Yusuf was found hiding an AK-47 rifle and four magazines inside a sack of garri.
The suspect confessed that a notorious bandit terrorising Katsina State, Aminu Basullube, sent her to take delivery of the arms in the Danum Madam Camp, area of the state.
The Nigeria Police Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, addressed the press in Abuja on Friday, and said that Hauwa Yusuf was arrested during a stop-and-search operation on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
"On August 14, 2024, based on intelligence reports, operatives from the Special Tactical Squad (STS) intercepted Hauwa Yusuf, a 30-year-old woman from Dutsin-Ma LGA in Katsina State. She was apprehended while travelling from Lafia in Nasarawa State to Katsina State in a Sienna Bus on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway."
During the search, an AK-47 rifle with no serial number and four AK magazines were found concealed in a white sack of garri.
Meanwhile, during interrogation, the suspect confessed that the arms were sent by a notorious bandit, Aminu Basullube, who has been terrorising the Katsina State area.
Adejobi said she was instructed to collect the arms from Danum Madam Camp in Katsina State.
However, Yusuf claimed ignorance of the contents of the sack.
"I didn't know it was a gun inside. They told me to go and collect millet, but they didn't bring garri for me. Even when I saw it, I was nervous. I was given ₦130,000 to deliver the garri to Katsina. My transport fare was ₦15,000. I made a mistake by not asking questions," she said.
In a similar development, Adejobi said the police conducted an operation, on April 29, a team of operatives from the FID-STS was dispatched to Igbowo in Oyo State to investigate Musa Saidu.
The investigation revealed that Saidu had been absent from his community in Kigakwu, Kaduna State, for five years.
Upon his return, he started spending lavishly, purchasing several new motorcycles and twelve cows in a single day, totalling ₦5,000,000.
"Upon interrogation, Saidu admitted to his involvement in criminal activities, operating under the leadership of one Haruna in the Birnin Gwari forest of Kaduna State. He used AK-47 rifles during his operations and was rewarded with twenty-five cows, which he sold in Kaduna State for ₦4,700,000. This money was used to buy the Bajaj motorcycles and twelve cows—ten female and two male—in Igboho, Oyo State," Adejobi stated.
Saidu explained that he became a cattle rustler after his cattle were stolen. He added that he was arrested after returning to his village to enjoy the proceeds of his crimes.
"I went to Oyo because there were too many problems in Kaduna. My cattle were rustled, so I became a rustler too. I know it's a crime, but I did it because of what happened to me. After making some money, I stopped and returned to my village to spend it," Saidu confessed.
