The police alleged that he was suspected of committing computer-related fraud.

A popular Nigerian whistleblower, known only by their pseudonym @PIDOMNIGERIA is reportedly missing.

The whistleblower on X (formerly Twitter), known for exposing high-profile corruption and human rights abuses in Nigeria, has gone silent since August 15, 2024.

With over 200,000 followers, his prolonged absence has sparked concern among the Nigerian online community, prompting a trending campaign, #FreePidom, calling for his release.

Investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, has corroborated reports of Pidom's disappearance, adding weight to growing concerns about his whereabouts and safety.

He wrote: “This is @DavidHundeyin tweeting. I have control of PIDOM's account.”

An X user, Peter Obi Grassroots Mobilisation wrote: “The reported disappearance of PIDOM is a chilling reminder of the dark forces that have consumed Nigeria's democratic fabric.

“The very foundation of our democracy is under siege, and the silence of those in power is deafening. The vanishing of PIDOM is a stark warning that no one is safe, and the rule of law is mere rhetoric. Nigeria's democratic system lies in tatters, and the people are left to pick up the pieces of a shattered dream.”
