NUGLOW in a statement on Tuesday by its General Secretary, Gregory Olatunji, described as "baseless and unfounded" allegations of terrorism financing by the Nigeria Police Force.
The National Union of Gaming and Lottery Workers (NUGLOW) has vowed to resist any attempt to hoodwink and force the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero to stop fighting the cause of workers, no matter "the spurious allegations" to defame his character.
NUGLOW in a statement on Tuesday by its General Secretary, Gregory Olatunji, described as "baseless and unfounded" allegations of terrorism financing by the Nigeria Police Force.
While affirming that there was clear deference between colonial economic policies and welfarist economic policies, the Union stated that "whilst Tinubu administration serves the political-economic interests of Western powers with anti-people neoliberal economic policies that have brought unprecedented hardship to the people, welfarist Comrade Ajaero courageously speaks and fights for the collective interests of Nigerian workers, the people and the downtrodden."
It maintained that the police spurious allegations against NLC President, was simply an invitation to anarchy.
The union stated that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, was being used to unjustly intimidate and witch-hunt the NLC president, regretting that after years of independence, the police had remained as they were during British colonialism, which served as a willing instrument of political-economic oppression and repression.
"Without any iota of doubt the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun is being used to unjustly intimidate and witch-hunt the NLC President, just as Egbetokun's self-confessed benefactor, has openly declared the NLC President an enemy of his vindictive and extremely wicked anti-people government.
"Unfortunately at this age and time, the Nigeria Police (NP) remains as they were during British colonialism, as a willing instrument of political-economic oppression and repression.
"Today, NP is now being used by an irresponsible and colonial ruling-class to dehumanise Nigerian people, and particularly to destroy the warning and humane voices of dissent who dared challenged the recalcitrant tyrannical, neo-fascist and colonial state.
