The election is scheduled for September 21, 2024.

As preparations get in top gear towards the upcoming Edo state elections, Independent National Electoral Commission has announced plans to deploy more than 5,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines for the exercise.

The election is scheduled for September 21, 2024.

INEC also noted that it is gearing up to ensure a smooth and efficient electoral process across the state’s 4,519 polling units and 211 collation centres.

192 ward centres, 18 local government centres, and the state collation centre in Benin City are expected to be designated to be a part of the election.

“More than 5,000 BVAS devices will be deployed for the Edo State governorship election,” an INEC official said.

On April 27, INEC scheduled a mock voter accreditation for September 10, 2024, in Edo State.

The exercise aims to test the BVAS deployment and the electronic result upload process to the INEC Result Viewing portal.

Also, the commission revealed that the installation and configuration of the BVAS machines to be deployed on election day were completed.
