Ukraine also urged that they be supported to protect civilians in the country.
Ukraine foreign affairs minister, Dmytro Kuleba, has accused Russia of killing children and other civilians in its latest assault on two Ukrainian cities.
These claims were made in a post on micro-blogging platform X.
The post via his official X handle reads; “This night, Russia launched another brutal attack on the residential areas of two major cities, Lviv and Kryvyi Rih.
There are civilians who have been injured or killed, including children.”
It was noted that Russia used drones and missiles to carry out the attack.
“Russia used missiles and drones to attack people in their homes while they were sleeping at night. Ordinary homes, schools, and hospitals were also hit. In Lviv's UNESCO-protected zone, heritage buildings were damaged.”
“I urge all capitals, ministers, international organizations, and others to strongly condemn Russia's war crime against civilians. We need your statements and actions right now.”
“To put an end to this terror, Ukraine's partners must promptly deliver the promised air defense systems and ammunition, as well as strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities and allow us to launch long-range strikes on all legitimate military targets in Russia.”
Ukraine also urged that they be supported to protect civilians in the country.
“Partner air defense can and must be used to protect civilian people in Ukraine. Shooting down pieces of deadly metal in the air does not constitute a country's participation in the war.”
“The simple act of saving human lives cannot be considered an escalation. “
“The decision to allow neighbouring countries to use air defense systems must finally be made.”
“Russia understands only one language: the language of strength. We must all take decisive action, show leadership, and be brave in order to put a fair end to Russian war and terror.” The post reads.
There has been escalating tension between Russia and Ukraine, a development that has led to loss of lives and wanton destruction of properties.
