The family of Umar Faruq Abubakar, a 31-year-old computer engineer, have been shaken by his mysterious disappearance.

 

This has prompted the family to issue a public appeal for assistance.

 

Faruq embarked on a journey from Abuja to Ilorin on August 28, 2024, but his subsequent whereabouts remain unknown.

 

The family members have taken to releasing a public notice on Sunday, desperately seeking the public's aid in locating their beloved relative.

 

In a bid to encourage information sharing, they have offered a cash reward to anyone who can provide leads regarding Faruq's disappearance.

 

"Umar Faruk Abubakar left from Abuja to Ilorin on Wednesday August 28, 2024. He has not been reachable since. Anyone with useful information should pls contact 08136570994, 09061429206 or report to the nearest police station. Cash reward awaits the person," the notice reads.

 

A member of the family who spoke with SaharaReporters on Sunday said the last time he spoke to Faruk was on August 26, two days before he went missing.

 

The family member said, "Faruk left Abuja for Ilorin on the 28th of August 2024. I last spoke with him on August 26th and he was in Abuja at that time. He told me he was waiting for our cousin whom he went to visit to give him transport fare so he could leave.

 

"On August 28, it was confirmed by the cousin and the boy that works at the farm that he was given money and taken to the bus stop to get a vehicle to the park and leave for Ilorin.

 

"We haven't heard from him since then; all his numbers are switched off and he has been offline on all social networks. We have reported the case at a police station in Federal Capital Territory.”

 

"Faruk who is from Ilorin, Kwara State speaks Yoruba, English and Hausa fluently," the family member added.
