One Person Killed As Truck Carrying Dangote Cement Collides With Another In Lagos

The Head, Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the articulated truck was attempting to overtake the mini-truck, which resulted in the collision.
 

A yet-to-be-identified man has been reportedly killed in an accident involving two trucks in the Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State.
It was learnt that a mini-truck and an articulated one collided at Araga Bus stop, Poka Road, around 7pm on Monday.

The Head, Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the articulated truck was attempting to overtake the mini-truck, which resulted in the collision.

He stated that the driver of the articulated truck sped off the scene after the incident.

He said; "Following distress calls at 1907hrs via the 767/112 Toll-Free Lines, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated it's Whale Response Team from Epe Base.

"Upon arrival of the Agency's Response Team at the incident scene by 1922hrs, it was observed that a mini-truck, registration number unknown, laden with Dangote Cement was involved in an accident at the aforementioned carriage way.

"Further investigations by the LRT revealed that the said mini-truck, while approaching the abovementioned road, was involved in an accident when attempts by an unknown articulated truck to overtake it, resulted in a side collusion with the said mini-truck.

"Impact of the collusion reportedly resulted in the fall of one of the motor boys that sat on the cement at the back of the mini-truck, and the subsequent loss of his life, while the unknown articulated truck absconded the scene.

"Unfortunately, an adult male, one of the motor boys, (name withheld) lost his life in the accident.

"LRT has bagged remains of the victim and handed it  over to Police Officers from Noforija Police Station led by an Inspector of Police. The bagged commodity has been taken to Epe General Hospital Morgue by the Police."
