IPOB Lawyer Ejiofor Says Tinubu’s ‘Emilokan’ Government Now ‘Ebilokan’ Because NLC Called Off Several Planned Protests

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has said the current acute hunger, hardship and bad governance Nigerians are experiencing is a direct consequence of “longtime romance” between the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government.

Ejiofor in a post on his X account on Thursday said that Nigerians are currently where they are because “NLC played into the hands of the Nigerian government by obviously compromising their stand, and consequently truncating various civil measures Nigerians would have adopted to stop President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government from further escalating the excruciating hardship.”

According to him, Nigerians were called out several times to genuinely and peacefully protest against the unpopular policies of the Nigerian government, ostensibly aimed at impoverishing the governed, and at every eleventh hour of the call, the NLC President, Joe Ajaero and “his co-travellers will abort the drive, after midnight tea party meeting at the Villa.”

Ejiofor said, “I deliberately decided not to engage in a wasteful discussion, criticism or argument about the current drama being acted by the Federal Government and NLC, seemingly to divert attention.

“Nigerians, I believe, are equally not interested too. This is for the simple reason that NLC as a body, and as an institution has failed Nigerians.

“If the NLC did not play into the hands of the Federal Government of Nigeria, by obviously compromising their stand, and consequently truncating various civil measures Nigerians would have adopted to stop the Federal Government from further escalating the excruciating hardship they have been thrown into, by the FGN unpopular policies, we will not be where we are today.

“Several times, Nigerians were called out to genuinely and peacefully protest against the unpopular policies of the Federal Government, ostensibly aimed at impoverishing the governed, and at every eleventh hour, Joe Ajaero and his co-travellers will abort the drive, after midnight tea party meeting at the Villa.

“Today, fuel is being sold at N1,300 even as high as N1,700 in some parts of the country, and Nigerians are hopelessly dying of hunger while some as seen in the instant clip, are committing suicide. Nigerians have obviously resigned themselves to their fates.

“You can only protest at your own peril, and see if you will not be charged with treasonable and or terrorism offences. Emilokan has turned to Ebilokan! There was a country indeed!!!”
