Recall that SaharaReporters had reported how the singer resigned from his position as Special Assistant, Artiste to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Ibraheem Abdulhameed, a popular Islamic cleric and singer known by his stage name Labaeka,
has expressed deep regret over his support for President Bola Tinubu's presidential campaign during the 2023 general elections.

Recall that SaharaReporters had reported how the singer resigned from his position as Special Assistant, Artiste to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The resignation was confirmed in a letter dated September 12, 2023.

In his letter, Abdulhameed had expressed his frustration with the role, stating that he had not been given a clear schedule of duties or the opportunity to perform his responsibilities.

“I cannot continue to break that trust by taking a salary for doing nothing,” he wrote, signalling his disappointment with the lack of clarity surrounding his position.

Giving more explanations on what influenced his decision when he appeared on Sobi FM live broadcast which SaharaReporters saw on TikTok, the singer said he was always sad anytime he remembered he used his talent to promote the current government of President Bola Tinubu’s campaign during the 2023 general elections.

He said: “Personally, I regretted supporting and be part of this government because our promises to the people. I composed a song for President Tinubu (during campaign) and anytime I listen to the song, I am always in tears and in sorrow.

“I sang that once Asiwaju is elected, hunger will be gone. I told people that if Tinubu is made the President, Nigerians will not be suffering again.

“Whenever we are driving, people always insult and curse us for supporting this government. Things are not bad like this when we campaigned for this government to take over.”

Labaeka is not the first singer that would regret supporting President Bola Tinubu during the last election. Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate in February also lamented the current economic hardship that President Bola Tinubu’s government has subjected Nigerians to within his first eight months in office.

Wasiu Ayinde who is well known as a strong loyalist of President Tinubu is seen crying during a live performance while singing about how Tinubu's performance has disappointed Nigerians so far.
