Baba Jibo Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Kano Judiciary, announced the suspension in a statement on Friday.
Jamilu Ibrahim, a registrar in the Shari’a Court Department, has been suspended by the Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) for allegedly receiving funds linked to a fraudulently obtained writ of possession for two plots of land.
Baba Jibo Ibrahim, spokesperson for the Kano Judiciary, announced the suspension in a statement on Friday.
He noted that the investigative committee set up by the JSC found that Ibrahim and an accomplice were liable for their actions.
Jibo added that the committee recommended Ibrahim's dismissal, leading to his indefinite suspension without pay, pending the outcome of his trial before a magistrates’ court.
Additionally, Zubairu Sulaiman, the Registrar of the Upper Sharia Court, was found to have received N1million into his personal account as a sales commission from the land sale.
Consequently, the JSC suspended Sulaiman for four months without pay.
“The commission remains resolute in applying appropriate sanctions against any erring staff, particularly those entrusted with judicial responsibilities, to safeguard the integrity and accountability of the Judiciary and uphold public confidence,” Jibo emphasised.
