Nigerian Police Rescue 59-Year-Old Distressed Man From Suicide On Third Mainland Bridge In Lagos

It stated that at about 1200hrs today, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) bike riders on routine patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge prevented a man from jumping into the lagoon.
 

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command on Friday rescued a 59-year-old man, identified only as Yemi, from committing suicide on the Third Mainland Bridge.

According to a statement from the Lagos Police Command, RRS officers were conducting routine patrols on the bridge when they noticed the distressed man standing dangerously close to the edge to commit suicide.

RRS made this known in a post it shared on its official Facebook page, on Friday.

It stated that at about 1200hrs today, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) bike riders on routine patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge prevented a man from jumping into the lagoon.

According to the statement, "The man, one Yemi, aged 59 of Ilasa, Lagos stated that he was overwhelmed by challenges."

Meanwhile, Commander RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye has counselled the suspect and has directed him to be kept in protective custody pending the arrival of his family members.
