Dangote refinery has been at the centre of controversies regarding its operations.

The Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Refinery, Aliko Dangote, has noted that the cartel in the oil sector is bigger than the drug world.

He stated this during an interview with Bloomberg in the United States.

According to him, the oil cartel mafia appears to be more powerful than drug cartel.

“I never knew that the mafia in the oil sector are more powerful than those in the drug cartel. I will keep saying anywhere.”

He noted that these mafias, attempt to use prices to undo his refinery. He said that Dangote refinery, however, has an edge and can accept local currency which is naira.

“The difference between us and them is that we can accept local currency, which will commence in October."

He also noted that Dangote refinery has the capacity to produce twice the fuel consumption of Nigeria.

“We have the capacity to produce twice of what Nigeria needs for fuel consumption,” he noted.

Dangote refinery has been at the centre of controversies regarding its operations.

Most recently, it was at loggerheads with the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over pricing of each litre of petroleum.

Recently, President Bola Tinubu approved Naira sale of crude oil for Dangote refinery, a development that should commence in October 2024.
