Reports had claimed that dozens of residents were killed when the Air Force attacked the hideout of the terrorists in the community.

The Nigerian Air Force has started an investigation into the alleged killing of civilians following the airstrike on a terrorist enclave in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Reports had claimed that dozens of residents were killed when the Air Force attacked the hideout of the terrorists in the community.

A press statement signed by Group Captain Kabiru Ali, the deputy Director, Public Relations and Information on Monday, said the NAF vowed to make its investigative process into matter sincere.

The military added that its personnel are not treating the allegations lightly, promising to make the outcome of their ongoing investigation on the matter available to the public.

The community had accused NAF of “mistakenly killing 23 people” during the airstrike.

Abdullahi Ismail, a councillor representing the area, was reported to have confirmed the incident, saying the area was a danger zone because of the activities of terrorists.

The villagers said among the victims were farmers and children who were at the community mosque that day.

They said: “The strike disfigured the bodies of most of those affected.

“We gathered body parts of 23 people who were identified by relatives, including children and they have been buried.

“Of course, Yadin Kidandan is a danger zone because it is under the control of bandits,” he said.
