Nigerian Police To Arraign 123 Suspects Arrested At Cybercrime Training Academy 'Hustle Kingdom' For Alleged Fraud

The suspects were arrested after a successful raid conducted by soldiers from the 3 Battalion of the Nigerian Army last week.

The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned 123 suspected internet fraudsters, commonly known as ‘Yahoo Boys’, arrested from a cybercrime training centre called ‘Hustle Kingdom’ In Delta State.

 

The suspects were arrested after a successful raid conducted by soldiers from the 3 Battalion of the Nigerian Army last week.

 

It was learned that the suspects were apprehended at the Army Estate in Effurun and subsequently handed over to the Ekpan Police Divisional Headquarters in the Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

 

Some of the suspects, aged between 17 and 25, were reportedly lured to the centre under the pretence that they would be taught how to trade in forex.

 

Meanwhile, the police say ‘HK (Hustle Kingdom) operates as a training school for internet fraud activities.

 

 

 

 

 

While providing an update on the incident in a video on Monday, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the suspects would all be charged today (Monday).

 

“We will be charging them to court today,” Edafe said.

 

A suspect, Gbolahan also narrated how he was forcefully made to join the cybercrime training centre after he was lured from Ibadan, Oyo State to Delta.

 

But the police said being forced to join the team may not totally exonerated him before the court during the trial.

 

“Gbolahan’s case is peculiar. But the fact is that even though you (Gbolahan) were coerced into it. You have gotten yourself in certain crimes that the law cannot overlook.

 

“Let us see what will happen in the court but I am certain that they will be charging you guys to court unless the IPO finds your story interesting and feels that you are victims; that is not for me to say,” the police spokesman said.
