The lawyer said the arrested protesters were released unconditionally.
The Nigeria Police Force has released five protesters arrested for participating in the #FearlessInOctober demonstrations in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
Their lawyer, Mr Ntyang Jugu, disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Tuesday evening.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that the protesters, identified as Yakubu Idris, Umar Faruq Dandina, Nura Abubakar, Khalid Sulaiman and Umar Faruk, were arrested by the police while exercising their fundamental human right in Jos on Tuesday.
The lawyer said the arrested protesters were released unconditionally.
He said: “I got a call earlier from an officer asking me to come back and that they'd be released unconditionally. I just came and they've already been processed and they were released unconditionally.”
Meanwhile, Khalid Shuaibu, the Officer in Charge of General Investigation in the state police command, earlier revealed in an interview with SaharaReporters that the protesters' arrest was due to their failure to provide prior notice to the police before holding the public demonstration.
