Nigerian Police Arrest Trigger-happy Inspector Who Killed 39-year-old Man In Yobe

The trigger-happy police officer is identified as Inspector Mohammed Bulama, attached to the Police Mobile Force, 41 Division in Damaturu, the state capital.

The Nigeria Police Force has announced that its personnel who killed a 39-year-old man identified as Abdulmalik Dauda, also known as Baksha, in Yobe State has been arrested and will face necessary disciplinary actions.

 

The trigger-happy police officer is identified as Inspector Mohammed Bulama, attached to the Police Mobile Force, 41 Division in Damaturu, the state capital.

 

The police authorities unequivocally condemned the tragic incident which has sparked outrage in the state, describing it as "sad."

 

In a tweet on Wednesday morning in reaction to the incident, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, directed the Yobe State Command to constantly update the public on every step taken in the case.

 

"This is sad and condemned in its totality," he said. "The inspector has been arrested, and necessary disciplinary actions and due investigation will be done. 

 

 

"We pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased while we commiserate with his family and friends. 

 

"We have directed the Yobe command to constantly update the public on this case."

 

Meanwhile, the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Ahmed, has directed an immediate investigation into the homicide incident.

 

In a statement, the Command's spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed that the incident happened on September 29, 2024 at about 18:20hours.

 

The statement partly read: "It was revealed that on September 29, 2024, at approximately 18:20 hours, Inspector Mohammed Bulama, 38, was involved in a heated argument with Abdulmalik Dauda (aka Baksha), 39, of Pompomari Ward, Damaturu, over an unresolved transaction at the Zango Area.

 

“The dispute escalated into a physical altercation, during which Bulama allegedly stabbed Dauda in the chest. Bulama also sustained head injuries during the confrontation.

 

“Bulama was promptly arrested at the ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, where he had sought refuge. The state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has commenced an investigation, and Bulama is currently in custody pending internal disciplinary action and prosecution.”

 

Ahmed condemned Bulama’s actions and expressed condolences to Dauda’s family.

 

He assured the public of a thorough and swift investigation to ensure justice is served.

 

“The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any misconduct from its personnel. We will ensure that justice is served and the perpetrator is held accountable,” Ahmed stated.
