Speaking to SaharaReporters, some of the affected soldiers alleged that the non-payment of their allowances had demonstrated the army authorities’ insensitivity to their enormous sacrifices for the country.

Some soldiers of the Nigerian Army studying at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI) in Jaji, Kaduna State, have complained that they have not received their Ration Cost Allowance (RCA) and course allowance.

According to the Manual of Financial Administration of Armed Forces of Nigerian (2017), military students under sponsorship are entitled to RCA daily.

NASI is a military training institution responsible for training infantry soldiers and officers in combat skills, tactics, and leadership.

The school was established in 1956 and has undergone several transformations to become one of the premier military training institutions in West Africa.

The school's mission is to produce competent and professional infantry soldiers and officers capable of operating effectively in various environments and scenarios.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, some of the affected soldiers alleged that the non-payment of their allowances had demonstrated the army authorities’ insensitivity to their enormous sacrifices for the country.

They said that the situation was causing them hunger and depleting their morale.

“We the students of Nigeria Army school of Infantry (NASI) in Jaji, Kaduna state are again appealing to the army authorities over non payment of our course allowance and RCA,” one of them said.

“NASI commandant has refused to pay as I’m talking to you, other military schools have paid their students but NASI has not even paid us for first quarter and now we are in the last quarter, please we need the money to take care of our families.”

This is not the first time there have been reports on soldiers complaining over non-payment of allowances.
