A rampaging flood had displaced hundreds of thousands of residents in Fori, Galtimari, Gwange, and Bulabulin areas of Maiduguri in September.

The Ogun State government has donated the sum of N200million to support the victims of the devastating flood in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Kayode Akinmade, the Special Adviser on media and strategy to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, announced the donation on Saturday.

A rampaging flood had displaced hundreds of thousands of residents in Fori, Galtimari, Gwange, and Bulabulin areas of Maiduguri in September.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had said that more than 30 people died and over 400,000 were displaced due to the flood disaster in the state capital.

Akinmade said the donation was aimed at helping flood victims recover from the disaster and providing them with immediate relief.

The special adviser said the flood had caused an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Borno, highlighting the urgent need for all Nigerians to assist those affected.

The Ogun governor had earlier sent condolence messages to the people of Maiduguri and the government of Borno.

He also commended the state government for its swift response and the federal government for its support.

Aliko Dangote, president of Dangote Group, had previously donated N1.5 billion to the flood victims.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Muktar Betara, a member of the house of representatives, also donated N100million each to victims of the disaster.
