This newspaper learned that the NFF paid the money to Mujaf automobile Nigeria Ltd. with the project described as, 'Payment for the provision of official vehicle for the use of Nigeria Football Federation president,’ on May 21, 2024.

The Nigeria Football Federation paid the sum of ₦87,328,186.04 to buy an official car for its president, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, in May, SaharaReporters has gathered.

This newspaper learned that the NFF paid the money to Mujaf automobile Nigeria Ltd. with the project described as, 'Payment for the provision of official vehicle for the use of Nigeria Football Federation president,’ on May 21, 2024.

SaharaReporters further learnt that the money for the vehicle was paid at the time when the body owed several national team coaches.

Those affected included Jose Peseiro, a former head coach of the men's senior team, and Ladan Bosso who led the male Under-20 team to the World Cup in Argentina where they reached the second round.

As of May 2024, Bosso only earned three months' salary in the previous 15 months.

Randy Waldrum, the former Super Falcons coach, was owed almost $100,000, including bonuses from last year's Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon).

"The NFF has been facing huge financial challenges and there is an ongoing effort to resolve all the issues relating to unpaid wages," Ademola Olajire, the NFF's director of communications, told BBC Sport Africa.

"It is unfortunately not something to be proud of and the new board of the federation is working hard to resolve the problems."

Despite these huge debts, the body still paid the sum of N87 million to buy a luxury vehicle for its president.

Further investigation revealed that the contract's beneficiary, Mujaf Automobile Nigeria Ltd., has the RC number 1437364 and is controlled by Abubakar Ibrahim and Hamisu Manu Ibrahim, both of whom have the same name – Ibrahim – as the NFF President.
