The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed taking into custody one Fatima Abubakar for physically assaulting two-year-old stepchildren in Adamawa State.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed to SaharaReporters on Monday that Abubakar tortured the twins - a girl and a boy - at Sanda Makama Ward in the Yola South Local Government Area.

Sanda Ward in the Yola South Local Government Area is where the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, hails from.

The 37-year-old stepmother reportedly inflicted the harsh punishment on the kids for improperly urinating and defecating in the living room on Saturday.

She was reported to the police by neighbours, according to Nguroje.

"Her neighbors informed the police about the abuse. She is in our custody and would be charged to court as directed by the Commissioner of Police, Dankom Morris," Nguroje said.
