At least eight people, including district head Alhaji Isah Daya, have been abducted following a bandits’ attack on Kanya, a community in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The raid, which occurred on Sunday at midnight, also led to the killing of Sheriff Almu, while three others are receiving medical treatment for gunshot wounds.
The attack comes just two days after bandits killed the APC chairman of Suru Local Government Area, Alhaji Bako Bala, in Takalafiya, and abducted one person from Matseri village in Bunza.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident, stating, “A combined security team, led by the police, has launched a manhunt to rescue the abducted individuals and apprehend the assailants.”
Kebbi State Governor, Nasiru Idris, expressed concern over the abduction. “The state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is doing everything possible to secure their release,” he said.
He further noted that the state government has provided essential logistics to strengthen the fight against banditry in the affected areas.
