This decision was made after a statement circulated through various media outlets claiming the governor had approved the new minimum wage for state workers, which sparked serious concern from the government.

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has suspended his Special Adviser on Salary and Pensions, Alhaji Bashir Ado, due to a premature statement regarding a N70,000 minimum wage.

This decision was made after a statement circulated through various media outlets claiming the governor had approved the new minimum wage for state workers, which sparked serious concern from the government.

According to Bala Ibrahim, Secretary to the State Government, the suspension was necessary due to the misleading information.

The government is taking this matter seriously, and an investigation committee has been constituted to look into the premature statement, NAN reports.

“This sounds embarrassing and premature as the committee headed by the Head of the State Civil Service, set up by the government to advise on the appropriate wage is yet to complete its assignment and submit a report,” Ibrahim said.

A committee, led by Attorney-General Bello Abdulkadir, will investigate the statement's origin, content, and motive. The committee has two weeks to submit its findings. The suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome.

Ibrahim named Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Sagir Musa; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad, and Permanent Secretary of Establishment and Service Matters, Office of the SSG, Muhammad Yahaya Jabo, as members of the committee.

The Committee will be chaired by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini while the Permanent Secretary, REPA, Abba Mustapha Yola, will serve as its Secretary.
