Sources revealed that Uzuobor was caught in the compromising situation while interrogating the woman suspected of a crime.

A police officer in Edo State, Sergeant Abraham Uzuobor, has been accused of raping a girl at a police station in Benin City.

Sources revealed that Uzuobor was caught in the compromising situation while interrogating the woman suspected of a crime.

On Friday, the sergeant was found with his trousers down and the lady lying on a couch in his office.

Though details of the incident remain unclear, a video shared on X on Sunday shows Uzuobor and the victim, with a woman recording the footage before it cuts abruptly.

"It happened on Friday," an anonymous source told FIJ. "The man has gone into hiding now and we don’t know where he is."

Reacting to the allegations, the Edo State Police Command stated via X on Monday that it was fully aware of the case and had initiated an investigation.

"The act is totally unacceptable, and the command has commenced a trial of the policeman involved in this act. Justice will surely be served," the police command said.

Efforts to reach Moses Yamu, the police spokesperson for Edo State, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to FIJ’s phone calls.

In a similar case from June, Owolabi Akinolu, a 56-year-old police officer attached to the Lagos Police Command, was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in his office.

Four months later, there has been no update on the investigation.
