SaharaReporters earlier reported how the resident was rescued in a video posted by @Omorhemi on Thursday.
She had accused the policemen of chasing the resident whom she only identified as her friend’s husband.
She wrote: “Yesterday morning, police chased my friend's husband till he fell into the canal, they took his slippers and money that fell and left when people started shouting. This happened at federal bus stop, Ipaja Ayobo axis. He is currently unconscious at Lasuth @BenHundeyin @PoliceNG.”
As explained in the video by a narrator, the resident's fall into the lagoon was compounded by a head injury sustained from hitting his head against a stone.
The narrator said, “It was the police that chased him till he fell inside the lagoon. We were only trying to rescue him. It was the police that chased him. They chased him this morning (on Wednesday). He hit his head on the hard stone. Money fell from his pocket and they took it.”
